A Wonderful Example of A Funeral Program

It is sad to see such a beautiful and talented musician on the cover of a funeral program. Whitney Houston's funeral program booklet is an outstanding example of a program that truly highlights her life and who she was. That is how all programs should be, it should exemplify the life that lived and be in some form an extension of the deceased personality or character. This is what makes a program unique and especially customized for a loved one.

Let's take a look at Whitney's beautiful memorial booklet in more detail. The cover is an amazing portrayal of her with simply just her name written in an elegant scripted font. The cover itself does not resemble a funeral but could very well be a cover for any type of booklet honoring her achievement or life. In my opinion, this is what makes her memorial booklet so wonderful, in that it does not appear typical, sad or somber. Because it only indicates her name and not date of birth or death, it immediately gives the impression of a booklet that may be honoring her in some form or fashion. This initial look sets the tone for the rest of the pages that will follow in her program.

The pages which follow within her 12-page memorial booklet consists of photo collages embedded within the background. The photos are from various different times in her life and career. There are a few with her and other special people who are beside her in the photos but clearly, the majority of it, displays Whitney. This is very important as often, families can get caught up with including photos of other family members. This is fine at a minimum because sometimes, the deceased gets lost within the wall collage of photos displayed.

There is an obituary of her life and biography along with a few quotes she has been known to say. The booklet contains a few selected photos of her in the center of the pages which makes for a very attractive presentation. Aside from her gorgeous appearance throughout the booklet, the program was put together with a background that captured the essence of who she was.

Because this clearly displayed a celebration of her life, there are more photos then text. In fact, the only text that appears is that of her obituary and the few chosen quotes. There isn't a funeral order of service, poem, or even funeral song noted.

Her date of birth and date of birth appears at the very back of the program. This is a great example of how a funeral program can achieve a presentation that is a true tribute of a life lived. It is perfectly within etiquette to think outside the box when preparing or putting together a funeral program. As long as you remember to focus on honoring the life of the deceased, the program will be sure to convey that.

If your unskilled at graphic designing or doing any type of creative work, feel free to use funeral program templates. There are websites online like The Funeral Program Site that offers the largest selection of templates you could ever imagine.
