The Evolution of Funeral Home Stationery

Funeral stationery figures much in a funeral or memorial service. It’s a collective term that refers to the printed materials which are sometimes distributed before or during a memorial service. In years past, the production of funeral stationery could only be done by printing presses or companies that offer printing services. This was because they had the machinery to produce special paper and they likewise had the machinery to use special ink to print on customized paper.

This process incurred additional operational expenses on the part of funeral homes because they were the ones who directly dealt with the printers. That’s probably the reason why in the past funeral service fees were very high. Today, however, funeral homes no longer have to obtain the services of external entities to help them when it comes to funeral stationery.

With the advent of various computer software which makes it possible even for non-experts to create beautiful graphics with just a few strokes on the keyboard, funeral homes have opted to make use of funeral stationery templates instead. These templates are often the works of graphic designers from funeral resource companies. So how do these templates work?

It’s fairly simple, really. Graphic designers would create themed templates and will place these in their funeral resource websites. These themed funeral stationery templates are then made ready for download. Who can download them? The deceased person’s family, the funeral home and even some organizations of the church can download these templates for their use. There are free downloads and some charge a fee for these.

Once the templates for the funeral stationery have been downloaded, they can be printed on simple or special paper using a laser printer or it can be taken elsewhere for printing. Clearly, this innovation in funeral stationery is proving to be cost efficient to many.
